Things to do in Warsaw 2024: An underrated European city trip! 🇵🇱

If Warsaw isn’t on your travel radar yet, trust me, it absolutely should be! Poland’s capital is vibrant, modern, and full of surprises. Whether you’re into history, a foodie, or just love discovering cute new places, I thought that this city has it all. So, here’s everything you need to know about visiting Warsaw!

What to Do in Warsaw

1. Wander Through the Old Town

Start your trip in Warsaw’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s an absolute gem. It’s full of charming streets, colorful buildings, and cute little cafés. I loved wandering around here and just soaking in the historic vibe. It feels like you’re stepping into a different era. I also highly recommend to stop by Warsaw Barbican for a cute photo opportunity.

2. Relax at the University Library Gardens

Just a 15-minute walk from the Old Town, the University Library Gardens is like a hidden oasis. This was one of our favorite spots to escape the city buzz for a bit. It’s peaceful, green, and has some super gorgeous views of Warsaw. Perfect for a little downtime or just enjoying the greenery. I also thought it was a super cute date spot!

3. Feast at the Weekend Breakfast Market

Okay, food lovers, this one’s for you! The weekend breakfast market is basically a foodie’s dream. You can try all sorts of local and international bites here, and honestly, everything is so good. I left absolutely stuffed but no regrets - this was our absolute favorite food spot in Warsaw! Pro tip: Eat the New York style round grilled sandwich!

4. Check Out Fabryka Norblina, Warsaw Brewery, and Elektrownia Powiśle

These places are a total vibe. Think cool, industrial spaces filled with street food, craft drinks, and fun entertainment. I loved Fabryka Norblina in particular - it’s sort of like a mix of history and modern culture all wrapped up in one spot. Perfect for spending an afternoon exploring and snacking. When you're here, don't miss a visit to the Frida Khalo exhibition and brunch at the lovely Pijalnia Ziół Dary Natury.

5. Chill at the Beaches and Beach Clubs

Yes, Warsaw has beaches! I was honestly surprised too, but the Vistula River has some sandy spots and beach clubs where you can relax, have a drink, and just enjoy the summer. Such a fun and unexpected part of the city and to us it seemed like it was really an important part of local life.

6. Take a Stroll Through Royal Łazienki Park

If you love green spaces, you’ll adore Royal Łazienki Park. It’s huge, full of beautiful gardens, and even has peacocks wandering around - it's stunning!

7. Catch a Sunset on a Vistula River Cruise

One of the best moments of our trip was taking a sunset cruise along the Vistula River. Watching Warsaw’s skyline light up as the sun set behind it? Pure magic. If you’re looking for a romantic or just peaceful evening activity, this is it! We booked the tour WITH a glass of prosecco btw. which is always an option for that extra bit of fun right?

8. Explore the Praga Neighborhood

Praga is Warsaw’s edgy, artsy side, and I loved how different it felt from the rest of the city. Spend a day here checking out the street art, popping into cute cafés, and soaking in the creative energy. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a more offbeat, laid-back vibe. Our favourite coffee shop was CZA CZA coffee & matcha which may well be the tiniest coffee shop in Warsaw, but it's also the cutest.

9. Visit the Neon Museum and Polish Vodka Museum

These two museums were such a cool change of pace! The Neon Museum is full of vintage neon signs that make for some seriously Insta-worthy shots, and the Polish Vodka Museum… well, let’s just say it was a fun (and tasty) way to dive into Poland’s history.

Good to Know:

- Public Transport is a Breeze: Warsaw’s public transport system is amazing—so easy to use and super efficient. We hopped on trams, buses, and the metro with no issues at all. Highly recommend taking advantage of it!
 
- Currency: The local currency is the Polish Zloty (PLN). 50 PLN is roughly £10, so your money will stretch pretty far here.

- Safety: Warsaw is generally a safe city, and we felt completely comfortable throughout our stay. Just use your usual travel smarts, and you’ll be good to go.
