Where exactly is Andalucía and how to get there?
Andalucía is located in southern Spain, bordering both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, with Portugal to the west. It’s well-connected and super easy to reach: You can fly directly into places like Seville, Málaga, or Granada from most major European cities. If you’re already in Spain, high-speed AVE trains from Madrid or Barcelona can make for a quick and comfy journey to Andalucía’s key destinations.

How to get around Andalucía?
The region has a pretty good rail network connecting cities like Seville, Córdoba, and Granada, and local buses serve smaller towns and villages. If you’re planning to explore more remote areas or want to take scenic drives through the countryside, I’d absolutely recommend hiring a car, though. Generally, it is fairly easy to get around Spain, so you won’t need much planning at all.
When to Visit Andalucía?
For me, the best times to visit Andalucía are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Both are perfect for exploring with mild temperatures, and you’ll avoid the tourist crowds. Spring brings Andalucía’s landscapes to life, and autumn adds a warm, golden glow to the scenery – which is amazing for photos!
In the end, it depends on what you’re after, as summer (although hot) can also be great for a visit, especially if you want to combine a trip to Andalucía with a trip to Spain's famous Costa del Sol, Barcelona, or maybe the Balearics.
What are The Best Places to See in Andalucía, Spain? Here are my 8 Must-Visit Spots:
1. Walk Around the Patios de Córdoba – A Hidden Gem

Let’s start with the Patios de Córdoba, a true hidden gem. It honestly is kinda hard to describe, but I’d say it’s basically an open-air museum full of beautiful clay pots filled with flowers. Locals spend all year carefully decorating their patios and arranging the flowers, and each patio is unique – you’ll probably get a chance to meet the owners, too. Visiting feels a little like taking a peek into traditional Andalusian life, and of course, it’s absolutely perfect for photos. Now, I must admit, Sophie and I visited some years ago, so the prices have gone up a little, but below you can find a range of guided tours from £13.

2. Marvel at the Alhambra – Granada’s Famous Fortress
I know, visiting a fortress doesn’t sound super interesting at first, but trust me, the Alhambra is famous for a reason and far more than you may think. The Alhambra is an architectural masterpiece that transports you to Andalucía’s past. You’ll find a beautiful mix of palaces, gardens, and courtyards, each with so much detail that’ll leave you amazed and have you taking a photo on every corner. Wandering through, I couldn’t believe the intricate tile work and the sheer scale of it. If you visit only one spot in Granada, make it this one. It really is unforgettable and definitely one of the best places to see in Andalucía! Oh, and make sure to wear walking shoes, as you can easily spend 2-3 hours exploring the grounds.
3. Be in Awe at La Mezquita in Córdoba

You really can’t miss La Mezquita when you’re in Córdoba – it’s absolutely stunning! Originally built as a mosque in the 8th century, this place is now a cathedral, and it’s a beautiful blend of Islamic and Christian architecture. As you walk in, you’ll be greeted by rows and rows of iconic red-and-white arches that seem to stretch on forever – I’d never seen anything like it before.
If you can, try to time your visit with a guided tour; the stories and history behind each element really bring the place to life. Honestly, La Mezquita was one of those experiences that left me a little speechless and was a definite highlight of our trip! It’s definitely one of the best places to visit in Andalucía. Good to know: When visiting La Mezquita, make sure you are respectful when taking photos, and be aware that it can be pretty dark inside, so you may need to make do with a photo similar to mine or bring a lens that shoots well in low light.

4. Go Shopping at the Alcaicería – Granada’s Souk
If you love noisy, fun markets, where you can easily get lost for hours, you’ll feel right at home here. The Alcaicería souk in Granada has colourful stalls full of ceramics, textiles, and trinkets. We spent ages just browsing around and if you’re into tea, don’t miss the chance to sit down for a pot of fresh mint tea. I loved the vibe here so much that we came back in the evening for a Flamenco show nearby. Honestly, such a fun spot.
5. Experience a Flamenco Show – An Absolute Must
You can’t leave Andalucía without seeing Flamenco – after all, it’s the actual birthplace of Flamenco! We found this fun venue in Granada, and it was one of the most eclectic performances I’d ever seen. Being real, at first I didn’t enjoy it; I think somehow I expected something a little more melodic, maybe? But Flamenco music and dance are so unique that it took a good few minutes for me to get used to it. Shortly after, I found myself tapping along to the rhythm, and it’s definitely one of those experiences that stays with you. Highly, highly recommend!

6. Take in the Views from Puente Nuevo in Ronda

Talk about breathtaking! This bridge spans across a deep gorge, and the views from the bottom are incredible. We took a short (I really mean short here – it probably only takes 15 minutes or so) hike down for the perfect Insta shot, and let me tell you, it was worth every step. Ronda is also a great spot to eat some local Spanish food, so make a day of it if you can. It’s easily one of the most stunning places we saw on the trip.
7. Visit Barrio de Cuevas – Discover Cave Houses
Ever seen a real-life cave house? In Guadix, you can visit these unique homes where people have lived for generations. Some are still decorated with original bits and bobs, and there’s even a recording of one of the former owners singing while she goes about her day! This was one of those discoveries that seemed random at first, but it turned out to be one of the coolest experiences we had in Andalucía, and it’s definitely one of the best places to see in Andalucía if you’re into unique things to do. I honestly think not many people know about this place!
8. Explore Toledo’s Historic Streets
Alright, so Toledo isn’t technically Andalucía, but it’s such a gem that I had to include it. The beautiful (and hilly) streets here were so fun to explore, and we found this cosy family-run spot that served up “carcamusas” – a super tasty pork dish. Toledo’s vibe is so welcoming, and it’s a perfect day trip if you’re heading north. I’d say you can probably spend about 3 hours here or so. Good to know: For the best view of Toledo, and to understand why it has so many steep streets, head to the viewpoint just outside of town; you can’t miss it!

Unique Rooms at Las Olas Hostel in Copacabana, Bolivia
One of my favourite things about Las Olas Hostel is the rooms. Each one is literally a work of art, with dome shapes, hobbit-like doors, and whimsical staircases that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale - or into a dream quite frankly. We stayed in a cosy dome room with amazing views, and I absolutely loved all the little details. It’s hard not to feel inspired here! Every room has its own unique vibe, and honestly, you’ll want to peek inside them all. Good to know: Most rooms have a private bathroom and kitchenette, and if yours doesn’t, there is a communal kitchen and bathroom with free drinking water.
Meet the Free-Roaming Alpacas at Las Olas Hostel, Bolivia 🦙
Yes, the rumours are true - there are alpacas! They are adorable and roam freely around the property - think natural lawn mowers. It was such a cute surprise to wake up and find them grazing outside our door or wandering up for a quick hello. I loved that they were so comfortable around people and seemed happy just being part of the scene. This was honestly one of the highlights of our stay and I sort of still miss them 🥰
Incredible Lake Titicaca Views from Las Olas Hostel
Now, let’s talk about the views - they are absolutely jaw-dropping! Las Olas is set on a hill, so it gives you beautiful views of Lake Titicaca that you won’t forget. Sunrises and sunsets are pure magic here, and trust me, Lake Titicaca is the bluest lake you’ll ever see! We got lucky and had a room with direct lake views from our bed - wow 🤩
A Word of Warning: High Altitude in Copacabana
One thing I wish we’d been more prepared for was the altitude. Copacabana sits at over 3,800 meters (12,500 feet), and if you’re not used to such crazy heights, it can be a bit of a shock. We felt it - headaches, a little breathlessness, and the need to slow down. It was kinda tricky as Las Olas is set above the town, so lots and lots of stairs are involved. Therefore I’d definitely take it easy for the first day or two, drink lots of water, and try coca tea (it’s a local favourite for a reason!).

Las Olas Hostel’s location was ideal for exploring everything Copacabana has to offer. Cafes, markets, viewpoints and Lake Titicaca’s shores are all within walking distance, and it’s a perfect starting point for day trips to Isla del Sol, one of my favourite spots in Bolivia - It’s said to be the birthplace of the Incas! Be aware though that walking around Copacabana is not easy as it is yet again, very hilly! Plan enough time to explore, walk slowly and drink plenty of water.

My husband and I regularly share a memory we made from there and keep talking about it to everyone who asks, or didn’t ask to be honest 😝
Whether you’re road-tripping, backpacking, or just exploring Bolivia, I can’t recommend it enough. So, if you’re looking for an experience filled with so much character and charm and wouldn’t mind finding yourself in some sort of Dr. Seuss story all at once: Las Olas is the place to be!
How to Get to Las Olas Hostel in Copacabana, Bolivia
Getting to Las Olas Hostel is part of the adventure! Most travellers arrive in Copacabana from La Paz, Bolivia’s capital. You can hop on a bus or arrange a private car from La Paz, both take around 3 - 4 hours and have beautiful views along the way. There’s a ferry crossing at Tiquina where you’ll need to switch buses briefly (it can be a bit of a confusing process but you’ll manage!) - oh and definitely bring a tiny bit of cash for the crossing, some services have the crossing fee included, some haven’t. For those coming from Peru, you can catch a bus from Puno, which crosses the border and arrives in Copacabana in about 3 hours. Once you’re in Copacabana, it’s a strenuous walk up the hill (especially if you have a lot of luggage, so brace yourself). We actually took a private taxi from La Paz and our lovely driver dropped us off right outside the doorstep, however coming on a bus you will not get so lucky. The walk from the bus station is around 10 minutes.

Yep, the hotel has a northern lights wake-up service. The Northern Lights are tricky to see, and naturally, they often appear in the middle of the night, so fear not: During your stay at Silica Hotel, you can peacefully fall asleep after having requested this service, as reception will keep an eye out for you and call you if they should appear. I was just about to snooze off when my phone rang one night during our stay, and you better believe I ran down the corridors to see the sky light up! 🤩
5. Complimentary Breakfast
One of the perks of staying at Silica Hotel is the complimentary breakfast, featuring fresh Icelandic produce; and let’s be honest, there is nothing like a really good hotel breakfast! No matter how long I do this job, I will never be tired of a hotel breakfast, and the selection at Silica Hotel was nothing short of amazing - Hands down one of my favourite breakfast spreads ever.
6. On-Site Restaurants
Not sure, but this may be one of my favourite reasons why you need to stay here. The on-site dining options at the close by Blue Lagoon are fantastic. I loved both, the Lava Restaurant for the food and views of the Blue Lagoon and the Moss Restaurant for the food of course, but also for the overall experience! At Moss Restaurant they have a farm-to-table menu that showcases the best of Icelandic ingredients, with a modern and fun twist. Think seafood, lamb, rye bread and other delicious Icelandic treats. They even offer a tasting menu, often paired with a carefully curated wine selection from their Wine Cellar, which is carved into an 800-year-old lava rock. 😍
So in summary:

To me, it was the perfect blend of luxury, nature, and relaxation – and the private lagoon is such a chic luxury moment, you cannot miss it! Christmas in London is magical, full stop. In fact, I would go as far as saying that London is the best city in the world to visit at Christmas. The London Christmas lights are unmatched and there’s just so much to do that’ll get you in the Christmas spirit. 1. See the Christmas Lights on an Open-Top Bus Tour
If you haven’t seen London’s Christmas lights yet, you’re in for a treat! Now, imagine taking it all in while cruising through the city of London on an open-top bus. Yep, it’s as magical as it sounds. Snuggle under a blanket (bring one!) and watch Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Covent Garden light up!

Trust me, it’s the best way to take in the city without battling through the crowds - and sort of romantic too! Side note: try to book a slot outside of rush hour, otherwise you may get a little stuck.
And of course, you can also join a free walking tour of the London Christmas lights, or just research the best London Christmas lights for yourself and head on out - just make sure you don’t miss them. Top Tip: The Regent Street Christmas Angels may be the most famous, but they absolutely should be on everyone’s list!
2. Ice Skating at London’s Best Ice Rinks
You cannot beat a festive ice skate to get in the Christmas mood. Somerset House might be the obvious choice, but if you fancy something a bit different, here are a few of my faves:
Hampton Court Palace: Skate around with the palace as your backdrop - it’s a little further out but it’s stunning
Beaverbrook Ice Rink: A hidden gem!
Glide at Battersea Power Station: It’s got this cool, industrial feel to it, but still packed with Christmas spirit
Canary Wharf Ice Rink: It’s maybe not the most beautiful ice rink in London, but I love how conveniently it’s located
Somerset House Ice Rink: A classic!
Go early or late to avoid the crowds, and remember that London’s iconic ice rink at the Natural History Museum is closed!
3. Have a Festive Afternoon Tea

You can’t come to London and not do afternoon tea, right? And Christmas is arguably the best time to have afternoon tea in London. Here are a few of my favourite festive afternoon teas in London:
Pan Pacific London: Super chic and festive. It’s the perfect excuse to dress up a bit
The Four Seasons: Pure indulgence with a Christmas twist - think gold-dusted pastries and more champagne, please!
The Strand Palace: Check out their Snow Palace Afternoon Tea, which is like stepping into a winter wonderland (and their desserts are too pretty to eat… almost).
To me, it’s the perfect way to escape the cold and feel all festive.
4. Get Lost at the Christmas Market in Greenwich
Winter Wonderland is great and all, but if you’re looking for something a little less touristy, head to Greenwich Christmas Market. It’s smaller, more local, and super charming. There’s live music, arts and crafts, and tons of delicious street food (the mulled cider is SO good).
Plus, the historic backdrop of Greenwich makes it feel a little more magical. And as a German, I just can’t send you to Winter Wonderland, haha. Christmas markets in Germany just are very different.
5. Visit Covent Garden
You may think ‘now this isn’t exactly a hidden gem is it?’ - Nope, it’s not, but Covent Garden at Christmas is a must visit every year. The decorations, the pop - ups, the photo opportunities and the shopping opportunities make it one of the most beautiful places to visit in London at Christmas for me. If you want to take some beautiful photos without the crowds I highly recommend an early wake up btw.!
6. Have a cocktail at London’s ‘Most Christmassy Bar’ - Miracle at Henrietta

You may think visiting Miracle at Henrietta is super cheesy, but I’m so sorry to say, it’s definitely the number 1 must do when visiting London for Christmas, and maybe the best thing to do in London for Christmas … ever! It’s a hidden bar within walking distance from Covent Garden and my personal favourite cocktail is the one with the T-Rex. Book well ahead or try to walk in at around 3:00pm.
7. Watch ‘Love Actually’ in Concert
For something to do indoors, don’t miss Love Actually In Concert at Eventim Apollo! This British Christmas classic will be screened with a full orchestra playing the iconic soundtrack live. It’s the perfect way to relive this British classic with a musical twist. I highly recommend this for a cosy date night or an evening with friends!

You may have seen pictures of the Uyuni Salt flats in Bolivia and wondered: ‘Is this place even real?’ I promise you it is, it’s not easy to get there and it’s definitely a crazy experience through and through, but also a place that has easily made it to the top 5 most beautiful destinations on earth, for me. The flats stretch out endlessly creating a super surreal landscape that transforms into the world’s biggest mirror during the rainy season - wow! As you can imagine: A trip here requires some planning, especially because of the altitude and super remote location. Here’s what you need to know before visiting the ‘Salar the Uyuni’ in Bolivia:
1. Where are the Uyuni Salt Flats?
They’re in southwest Bolivia, right near South America’s biggest mountain range: The Andes. To give you an idea of just how huge they are, the flats cover over 10,000 square kilometers - making them the largest salt flats on the planet! 🤯 The closest town is Uyuni, which is where most of the salt flats tours start from. It’s about 500 kilometers from Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, and not too far from the borders of Chile and Argentina, so it's a popular stop for travelers and backpackers exploring this corner of South America - just like my husband and I did 🥰
2. How to get to the Uyuni Salt Flats?
Reaching the Uyuni Salt Flats is not easy, but it’s part of the adventure, right? 😛 To get there, you can:
Fly to Uyuni: This should be your preferred option if you are on a tight schedule. You can fly from La Paz, Bolivia’s capital, or from Santa Cruz (via La Paz). Here are a few options to consider:

Take a bus to Uyuni: Taking buses in Bolivia works, but is for sure a bumpy ride - literally. We booked plenty of buses via Busbud and had always a ‘good’ experience 😉 Just arrive with plenty of time to find the right bus, practise your Spanish and you won’t have an issue.
Join a tour: You can take a day tour from Uyuni, but I highly recommend going for a longer experience. Some companies even offer 3 - day tours from La Paz or all the way from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. Here are a few of the best Uyuni Salt Flats tours you can check out:

3. Altitude Matters: Prepare for 3650 Meters Above Sea Level
The Uyuni Salt Flats are at a crazy altitude of 3650 meters, so it's very common for travelers - including myself 😵💫- to experience altitude sickness. To prep yourself, follow these tips:
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help your body adjust.
Eat light: Avoid heavy meals or meat, which can make altitude symptoms worse.
Take it easy: Don't do anything too strenuous (this is not the time for a running challenge!) and try not to stress.
Have medicine handy: Bring altitude sickness medication just in case. You can get pills at local pharmacies, but it's smart to pack some before you leave.
I honestly struggled! My digestive system was not playing ball, I had a constant headache, and I felt sort of dizzy all throughout the experience. But I would do it all over again and would wholeheartedly recommend visiting to anyone - it remains one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
4. It’s Not Ideal for Kids
The harsh conditions - think cold weather, high altitude, and rough terrain - make it a challenging destination for little ones. If you're traveling with family, consider this carefully before bringing children along. I’d say this is an adventure best suited for grown-ups!
5. Budgeting for the Experience
While we considered Bolivia a budget-friendly destination 💰, tours of the Uyuni Salt Flats can be on the pricier side. Plan ahead, especially if you want a more private or customised experience. It’s always a good idea to book in advance to secure your spot. For example, if you’re okay with staying in a hostel during your tour, sharing the van, and splitting photo spots, you can easily fit this into your Bolivia budget. But if you’re after a private driver, you may want to save up just a little more. The difference between a group and private tour in Bolivia can be hundreds of pounds.
6. Drone and Photography Heaven
Calling all photographers! 📸 Drones and cameras are allowed on the flats, so you can capture stunning professional shots. If you're not such a seasoned photographer, don't worry at all! Many, if not all, tour guides carry fun props 🦖 for those must-have optical illusion shots. The landscape is so vast that you’ll have a lot of space to take pics without any distractions.
7. When is the Best Time to Visit the Uyuni Salt Flats?
If you want to visit the Uyuni Salt Flats for the mirror effect, plan your trip during Bolivia’s rainy season, which typically runs from December to March. This is when the flats become a giant reflective surface, creating the world’s largest mirror. Just keep in mind that it’s colder and wetter during this time, so pack accordingly. I loved my trusted and packable Uniqlo jacket!
8. Bring Toilet Supplies
So yes, there are no toilets on the flats! And with the altitude likely to put a little bit more pressure on your bladder than usual, you will need to go eventually. I’d say you need: tissues, a rubbish bag for the tissues and other potential female hygiene products, and a large-ish towel so your fellow traveler can hold it up to shield you 😂 I promise I’m not joking; there is literally nowhere to hide 🫣
9. What to pack to visit the Salt Flats in Bolivia?
Layers: Lightweight jackets, fleeces, hiking trousers etc.
Strong Footwear: Comfy waterproof shoes
Sunglasses & Hat: Essential as the sun is super strong all day
Sunscreen: Even more essential at this altitude. Factor 50 minimum!

Day 1: Thrills at The Forest and Dinner at Ankole Grill
Welcome to Nairobi. After our direct flight from London we checked into Glee Nairobi and were soon ready for our ultimate Kenya itinerary to begin! Day 1 started with a crazy zipline experience at The Forest! It’s the longest zipline in East Africa, and I can honestly say it definitely felt like that, too 😵💫 . The adventure centre, which is about 2 hours drive from Nairobi, also had us try our hand at archery, and we got to plant an indigenous Cedar tree in the forest, which made our morning as wholesome as it was thrilling! After all that excitement, we headed to Ankole Grill for dinner. The atmosphere was lovely, with a warm, inviting vibe and log fires. The food was divine - get the Liberian peanut chicken if you like chilli 🌶️ 😉, and the cocktails were fab, too!
Day 2: Safari Adventures in Tsavo National Park
The next morning, we woke up bright and (very) early to kick-start our safari adventure in Tsavo National Park. We headed to Wilson Airport in Nairobi, checked into the tiniest plane I’d ever seen in my life, and flew over to Tsavo National Park - the flight was only about 30 minutes or so and, to my surprise, NOT bumpy. Air Kenya is the best airline to book this flight with btw. We checked into Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, which has incredible views over a watering hole, and in the evening, we set off on a game drive, spotting elephants and catching a glimpse of the beautiful Mzima Springs. Legend has it that you can spot hippos here, but we ‘only’ saw crocodiles that day, and I would absolutely recommend this stop nonetheless!
Day 3: Lions, Sundowners and a secret Safari Hideout at Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge
Our third day was equally as exciting! We kicked off the morning with another game drive - this means a 3:30 a.m. wake-up, by the way! But honestly, I did not care; the excitement outweighed the tiredness. We spotted wildebeests, giraffes, and zebras, and after our morning adventures, we checked in at Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge, where we were lucky enough to see, as the name suggests, some lions in the wild! Soroi Lions Bluff Lodge was hands down the most beautiful hotel in Kenya for me. Imagine rooms overlooking the savannah, peace and quiet, and the best food we had on the entire trip! As the day came to a close, we enjoyed a stunning sundowner and sipped our drinks while watching the sun dip below the horizon. Honestly, it felt like a scene from a movie!

Day 4: Off to the Beach in Watamu
What would the ultimate Kenya itinerary be without the beach? Today was travel day, as it was time to head to the coast! We drove to Voi train station and left for Mombasa. After a 2-hour train ride, we made our way to Watamu, stopped by the Gede Ruins, a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site that transports you back in time, and eventually checked into the stunning Medina Palms hotel. We were tired but excited for the next few days by the beach!
Day 5: Exploring Watamu’s Wonders
After a fun Tuk Tuk ride, we visited the Local Ocean Conservation Turtle Sanctuary, where we learned about their incredible work in protecting sea turtles. If you’re interested, they have a volunteering programme! For lunch, we enjoyed cocktails and freshly grilled seafood at the vibey Licht Haus - think nets over the water, soft afrobeats in the background, and chilled conversations. I loved it here A LOT, and we were told that it’s also one of the best places to visit in Watamu during sunset. We finished our day with a super fun dhow cruise, where we learned more about the Italian and Arab cultural influences of Watamu and watched Kenya’s beautiful sunset.
Day 6: Relaxation at Papa Remo Beach
To complete our ultimate Kenya itinerary, on our final day, we relaxed at Papa Remo Beach - which is a hotel where you can stay or just come to the restaurant & bar for the day to access the beach. The soft sand and turquoise water were the perfect way to end our trip. We spent the day swimming, sunbathing, and eating fresh seafood, of course, and if you ask me, this was one of the most beautiful beaches I’d ever seen in my life!

I loved wandering around here and just soaking in the historic vibe. It feels like you’re stepping into a different era. I also highly recommend to stop by Warsaw Barbican for a cute photo opportunity.
2. Relax at the University Library Gardens
Just a 15-minute walk from the Old Town, the University Library Gardens is like a hidden oasis. This was one of our favorite spots to escape the city buzz for a bit. It’s peaceful, green, and has some super gorgeous views of Warsaw. Perfect for a little downtime or just enjoying the greenery. I also thought it was a super cute date spot!
3. Feast at the Weekend Breakfast Market
Okay, food lovers, this one’s for you! The weekend breakfast market is basically a foodie’s dream. You can try all sorts of local and international bites here, and honestly, everything is so good. I left absolutely stuffed but no regrets - this was our absolute favorite food spot in Warsaw! Pro tip: Eat the New York style round grilled sandwich!
4. Check Out Fabryka Norblina, Warsaw Brewery, and Elektrownia Powiśle
These places are a total vibe. Think cool, industrial spaces filled with street food, craft drinks, and fun entertainment. I loved Fabryka Norblina in particular - it’s sort of like a mix of history and modern culture all wrapped up in one spot. Perfect for spending an afternoon exploring and snacking. When you're here, don't miss a visit to the Frida Khalo exhibition and brunch at the lovely Pijalnia Ziół Dary Natury.
5. Chill at the Beaches and Beach Clubs
Yes, Warsaw has beaches! I was honestly surprised too, but the Vistula River has some sandy spots and beach clubs where you can relax, have a drink, and just enjoy the summer. Such a fun and unexpected part of the city and to us it seemed like it was really an important part of local life.
6. Take a Stroll Through Royal Łazienki Park
If you love green spaces, you’ll adore Royal Łazienki Park. It’s huge, full of beautiful gardens, and even has peacocks wandering around - it's stunning!
7. Catch a Sunset on a Vistula River Cruise
One of the best moments of our trip was taking a sunset cruise along the Vistula River. Watching Warsaw’s skyline light up as the sun set behind it? Pure magic. If you’re looking for a romantic or just peaceful evening activity, this is it! We booked the tour WITH a glass of prosecco btw. which is always an option for that extra bit of fun right?
8. Explore the Praga Neighborhood
Praga is Warsaw’s edgy, artsy side, and I loved how different it felt from the rest of the city. Spend a day here checking out the street art, popping into cute cafés, and soaking in the creative energy. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a more offbeat, laid-back vibe. Our favourite coffee shop was CZA CZA coffee & matcha which may well be the tiniest coffee shop in Warsaw, but it's also the cutest.
9. Visit the Neon Museum and Polish Vodka Museum
These two museums were such a cool change of pace! The Neon Museum is full of vintage neon signs that make for some seriously Insta-worthy shots, and the Polish Vodka Museum… well, let’s just say it was a fun (and tasty) way to dive into Poland’s history.
Good to Know:
- Public Transport is a Breeze: Warsaw’s public transport system is amazing—so easy to use and super efficient. We hopped on trams, buses, and the metro with no issues at all. Highly recommend taking advantage of it!
- Currency: The local currency is the Polish Zloty (PLN). 50 PLN is roughly £10, so your money will stretch pretty far here.
- Safety: Warsaw is generally a safe city, and we felt completely comfortable throughout our stay. Just use your usual travel smarts, and you’ll be good to go.

Goslar Altstadt is like stepping into a fairy tale. This medieval Old Town boasts with cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and a history dating all the way back to the Roman Empire. It's so enchanting that you'll half-expect to bump into knights, princesses or fairies around every corner! :) Plan an entire day to see the best of Goslar and book a guided tour through the romantic old town here.
2. Rammelsberg - Become A Miner For A Day
The Rammelsberg mines were once the backbone of the local economy. Now a UNESCO site, you can descend into the depths of history with guided tours. It's a journey through time that's equal parts fascinating and spooky. We took the mine train 500 metres deep into the mountain and to me it was an experience not to miss! You must book a tour if you want to visit.

3. Speicherstadt Hamburg - Canals And Coffee
Hamburg's Speicherstadt is a jaw-dropping warehouse district crisscrossed by canals. It's also the world's largest coffee trading place. Enjoy a cup of joe by the water and soak in the charming atmosphere of this bustling UNESCO site. Top tip: Stop by the spice museum, too! Plan at least half a day to see everything.
4. Kontorhausviertel - An Architects Dream
To be honest, I didn’t really expect much, but the Kontorhausviertel in Hamburg is a red-bricked masterpiece. These early 20th-century office buildings are like architectural symphonies, and the Chilehaus with its ship-like shape is the absolute star here. You’ll spend about 10 minutes wandering around.
5. Voelklinger Huette - An Unexpected Industrial Playground
This massive ironworks complex in Saarland is like a playground for fans of industrial history - which I am not, so I was even more surprise to have a really good time here! You can explore the towering furnaces, mysterious pipes, and rusty wonders that once powered Germany's industrial revolution. It’s eerie, cool and you’ll easily spend 2-3 hours here.
6. Oberharzer Waterworks - Nature's Hydraulics
The Oberharzer Waterworks? It's basically miners saying, "Watch us turn these streams into our power source!" Dams, ditches, and ponds everywhere - they made Mother Nature their BFF! 💧✨ We enjoyed our visit though I’d highly recommend to only come here in good weather and then you can easily spend half a day walking around. Top tip, bring a picnic basket!

To this day, visiting Peru and hiking the Inca trail has always been top of my bucket list, and when Wanderful reached out to me and asked if I wanted to go on an all women’s expedition to Machu Picchu, I probably said yes before the thought had fully formed in my head! So here is the perfect 8 day Peru itinerary with Wanderful, Intrepid Travel and some of the most inspiring female travellers I have ever met:

👋 Bienvenidos! After flying 16 hours+ from London I landed in Lima. A city I had been dreaming to visit for far too long. I was greeted by Lauren from Wanderful and met my fellow traveller Tonia from @Toniahope at the airport and the 3 of us immediately bonded! The jet lag was real but so was the excitement and we stayed up until midnight, drinking Pisco sours and chatting about what was to come.
The next day it was time to kick start this epic tour:
The journey began with a 2 pm welcome meeting at the hotel, where we met up with our local female leader Tina and where I met the rest of the girls and heard their inspiring stories, followed by one of the most breathtaking dinners of the entire trip. We took the minibus to Huaca Pucllana - a famous restaurant in Lima overlooking ancient Incan ruins in the middle of this buzzing city! I couldn’t believe my eyes. We indulged in what was number one of many Ceviche dishes to come, learnt a little about Quinoa and it’s importance to Peru, had more Pisco sours of course and went to bed ready for an action packed day ahead.
The jet lag was gone by this point so it was time to get active. Activity of the day: Cycling! We had an absolute blast exploring the vibrant and colorful neighborhoods of Lima on two wheels, and later, we indulged in a street food tour, savoring Peruvian churros and some of the best food in the city - although I have to say that Anticuchos (pictured below) were maybe not at the top if my personal ‘best street food in Lima’ list. However, we couldn't resist trying Picarones and they tasted like heaven - don’t forget to add them to your list! For me they were an absolute must have and they are essentially Peruvian doughnuts made from squash and sweet potato:

✈️ The next day, we said goodbye to Lima and took a flight to Cusco, the former center of the Incan Empire. As we arrived, altitude sickness started to kick in! I’d never experienced anything like it before, but luckily we were warned and prepared by our guide: Water, water, water and don’t panik - It worked. We settled in and went walking tour with our cheerful leader Tina. For lunch, we ate at Mama Seledonia’s, a heartwarming restaurant supporting single mothers by providing employment and teaching culinary skills. The delicious traditional Cusco dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients were unforgettable - try the chicken dish coated in crispy quinoa!
Later, we explored the charming cobbled streets of Cusco, trying not to let the altitude sickness dampen our spirits.

Day 5: Ollantaytambo
Where to stay in Ollantaytambo?
🏨 Pakaritampu Hotel for cozy rooms and tranquil atmosphere
🚙 On this day, we left Cusco and ventured to the ancient Inca site, Sacsaywaman, before stopping at a local llama wool shop to support the community and grab some outfits for Machu Picchu. We had a delicious lunch at Tunupa Restaurant and even tasted chicha, a traditional Peruvian drink which is usually made mainly from maize. It undergoes fermentation with water and occasionally includes fruits or herbs for flavor. With cultural significance, it symbolizes social gatherings and festivities, varying in potency and appearance from region to region. By evening, we arrived in Ollantaytambo, enjoying the breathtaking views along the way. We had finally arrived in the valley of the Incas! Special Info: The next day, as we started the Inca Trail, most of our luggage remained at the hotel. We carried only small duffle bags for the trek (max 5kg/11lb). The porters, who were incredible, shouldered our bags along with the food and equipment, always staying ahead of the group.

Day 6: Inca Trail, Sun Gate - Aguas Calientes
This day was truly epic! We followed the footsteps of the Inca on the famous Inca Trail, trekking towards Machu Picchu. To reach the starting point, we hopped on the famous Vista Dome train. The 8-hour hike was challenging but incredibly rewarding. We stopped for water breaks and enjoyed a delicious lunch carried by our trusty porter Valentina. Finally, reaching the Sun Gate and catching our first glimpse of Machu Picchu was a surreal and emotional moment. Trust me, finally seeing Machu Picchu after a literally breathtaking 8 hour hike and about 20 years of dreaming about it, is indescribeable. We later descended to Aguas Calientes to rest for the night - not without celebrating our success with a beer in town beforehand though!
Where to stay in Aguas Calientes? Taypikala Boutique Machupicchu. To me it was the perfect resting place, though to be honest ANY hotel would have done after the day we had 😂 🛌 😴
Day 7: Machu Picchu - Cusco
We revisited Machu Picchu for THE photo opportunity, taking the bus back up and finding the perfect spot to soak in the breathtaking views. Our guided tour of the ruins was simply spectacular, and we learned so much about this awe-inspiring place - maybe I cried a little 😢 😜 . After exploring one of the world’s wonders (yay!), we returned to Ollantaytambo by train and then continued on to Cusco in a private vehicle. We partied the night away in some of Cuscos best bars before falling asleep one last time in incredible Peru.
